A plain-language record of what you marked and what we found. No message text or personal data is stored — only the tells and the result.

HIGH — this has the hallmarks of a scam

High risk

Safe next step

Stop. Don't click anything, don't pay, and don't share any codes. Hang up or close the message. Then contact the company or agency yourself using a number you look up independently — never the number or link they gave you. If you shared a code or password, change that password now and turn on two-factor authentication.

Why

  • Key tell

Asked you to 'verify' a password, PIN, or one-time code

A legitimate company will never ask you to read back a one-time code or password. That code is the key to your account.

  • Included a link or attachment to click or open

Links can lead to fake login pages that steal your password; attachments can carry malware.

  • Claimed to be the government, your bank, or a known company

Scammers borrow trusted names. The name on the message doesn't prove who's really contacting you.

  • Created urgency — 'act now', 'account suspended', a deadline

Real institutions give you time. Pressure is designed to stop you from thinking it through.

Never share with someone who contacted you

  • Passwords or PINs
  • One-time / verification codes (the texts that start 'your code is…')
  • Card numbers, CVV, or bank account numbers
  • Your Social Security number
  • Remote access to your phone or computer

Scam Shield is a calm second opinion, not legal or financial advice. It never asks for personal details and works entirely on what you mark.
